Riding Equipment and Attire
It isn't really necessary to have the full riding attire or equipment(such as a whip or grooming kit e.c.t.) if you want to start riding as most riding schools provide hats and any other relevent equipment you'll need, however you must wear appropriate clothing:
Acceptable Attire:
Jodhpurs Tracksuit Bottoms Full length(comfortable)trousers Leggings Boots Shoes-small 1/2inch heel and smooth sole |
Unacceptable Attire:
Vest Top(shoulders need to be covered) Dresses/Skirts 3/4length trousers Shorts Sandals Pumps Flip-flops Open toe shoes Heels higher than an inch/no heel at all |
Riding
If it's you've never been on a horse before, and you're interested in starting to ride, it might be nice to go on a trek or walkout instead of a lessons because they are more of just a relaxing ride rather than a lessons and it could help build your confedence around horses however any sort of riding is an enjoyable experience.
Posture
If you don't have the correct posture and can't maintain a balanced possition, then it makes it much harder to ride well, especiously if you're trotting or cantering. When riding you must make sure you've got at good posture at all times.
If you've got a good posture, then there should be a straight line from the ear, shoulders, hip and heels, and your back should be straight aswell.
Before riding, make both sure you styrrups are the same length and that you're holding the reins inbetween your little finger and your ring finger, with your thumbs over them. Now you're ready to begin riding.
